Whirlwind Students and Parents,
Because of the potential heat and elevated wet-bulb temperatures, OMS will adjust practice times for Monday, August 24, to keep our athletes and coaches safe.
Football: 6:00–7:00 a.m. (morning practice already scheduled; doors open at 5:30 a.m)
Cross Country: 6:15–7:00 a.m.
Volleyball & Cheer: Practice will remain as scheduled.
With 12 practices required before our first football game and cross country meet, we need to continue practicing when conditions allow, with safety as our top priority.
I’ve attached the wet-bulb guidelines we follow per KSHSAA requirements for reference.
We’ll continue monitoring the heat forecast throughout the week and communicate any schedule changes to parents and students as soon as possible.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding!
