ENROLLMENT INFORMATION
OUT-OF-DISTRICT STUDENTS
USD 290 parents: recently the legislature enacted a law allowing for open enrollment of students residing outside of district boundaries. This law requires students who do not live within the Ottawa USD 290 boundaries to apply to attend a Ottawa USD 290 school. However, if you are a student who has been enrolled in our schools for the 2024/25 school year and reside outside of the district, the law allows for you to remain in USD 290 schools without the need for application. Therefore, there is no additional action that you need to take other than the normal enrollment process which typically begins toward the end of July.
For any student who was not enrolled in our schools during the 2024/25 school year who wishes to attend, please complete the Application for Nonresident Student Enrollment. This form can be picked up at the district office at 1404 S. Ash Street, Ottawa, KS 66067. You can also print a form from the website under Enrollment information and email the form to bybeea@usd290.org. If you have any questions about the application, please call 785-229-8010. All applications must be received by June 30, 2025. Please be aware that your application does not guarantee enrollment in our schools per the law depending on class size restrictions. If you have questions about the process please feel free to reach out to Dr. Cobbs at cobbsr@usd290 or call at 785-229-8010 for further information
